TARDISS
Innovation Ecosystem
The TARDISS Innovation Ecosystem (IE) is centered in the energetic entrepreneurial ecosystem of Northeast Ohio, but actively converges the expertise of the geographically distributed and internationally recognized research team, complemented by small to large companies, national and federal laboratories, and the students and communities it serves. TARDISS will create a universal IE ecosystem nurtured by the stakeholders and research to bring out ideas. Additionally, TARDISS will create a "Piranha Pit" seed money fund – an incubator style venue. The overall success of TARDISS IE will be a continual evolution of buy-in from our industrial colleagues and other stakeholders (farmers, community, possible franchises, start-up companies etc.). Ultimately, we will contribute to growing American manufacturing.
Technology Transfer
OSU’s Technology Commercialization Office developed a progressive model for accessing intellectual property (IP) rights. The model provides a low-risk pathway for companies to acquire non-exclusive or exclusive rights by paying a single upfront technology access fee. The resulting license is non-royalty bearing and allows commercial use. This eliminates the need to negotiate license agreements and provides clear project cost to the company.
TARDISS Industry Membership
TARDISS actively engages industry – manufacturers, growers, investors, startups and other corporate partners – across three research areas of (1) bioengineering (genetic improvements), (2) crop engineering (growing practices), and (3) latex and rubber engineering (extraction, materials characterization and product development for industrial-scale use). It offers industry members the opportunity to shape research, connect with natural rubber researchers, identify emerging talent, and gain early access to new technology and innovations. Membership is tiered to meet the diverse interests, scales of operation, and sector representation of prospective members. Learn more.
